The greatest lie ever told was convincing children that dying for their country was the greatest honor they could ever achieve.

@ProbablynotBlair

My great grandfather had a friend in that war .. his family abandoned him and before he died a very painful death , it was supposed to be my grandfather . he told my grandfather, your the only person who brought laughter and joy in my life so I will give you mine.

@Jack958

Ww1 is the saddest war, that generation deserved better. I feel a lingering sorrow for every country and every man involved. Europe destroyed itself for nothing.

@ReeChad.

Maturing is realizing we go to war because of the leaders we chose to represent us for peace

@irokimaori6426

While countries fight each other, it's people that die.
Soldiers have no enemies, they have loved ones.

@ZhiyingHarp

No man deserves to be treated as a disposable in war.

@Giggles231

In peace, sons bury their fathers.
In war, fathers bury their sons.

It hurts watching those boys and men smiling and joking around while they get suit up, knowing what’s to come afterwards….😢

"The worst part about winning a war is watching your enemy get younger"

@wednesdays

My grandfather was a soldier in ww2 and until his death he always talked about his friend who died in the war. He showed me pictures, it was a boy and he was 17 when he died. He visited his grave every year on his birthday for more than 70 years.

“War is not hell. It’s worse. In Hell,there are no innocents.”

There’s many arguments in the replies. Chill out.

@n1k0659

Another sad part of them getting dressed up scene is that the character sees his jacket had a name tag of someone else previously

@rowan6872

For anyone interested, this movie is called All Quiet On The Western Front. It's an incredible movie and brought tears to my eyes. It really highlights the lingering sorrow and sadness from WW1 and puts the perspective of the soldiers in a whole new light. Definitely give it a watch if you haven't already.

@New_atheist

The soul shattered thing about winning battles is that your enemies keep getting younger 😢😢

@miaburgueno8872

This is why these kinds of movies scare me more than any horror movie. These things actually happened, and can happen again. This was real, something people did and had to live through. Horror movies just scare you, but you know that they aren't real.

Edit: Dam, thanks for the likes. Never gotten so many before. And I've never found anyone else who has agreed with me on this.

Edit: Okay, yes, I know it's happening again. I just said it in that form to get a point across

"I cant do this, i wanna go home!" That was heart breaking idk why.

@rionabil8065

"War is far better if only the kings who fought since it's their matters"

@atom7989

War doesn’t determine who is right, only who is left.

@shellonabeach4273

My history teacher showed me this and i remember sitting in my chair almost crying at some of the parts... I think its one of my favorite war movies because it just portrays it perfectly

@Khaopand10

Veterans thank you for your service❤
