Love your adventure....this sounds like an amazing retirement trip for the wife and I !
Drove a rented Audi convertible in Florence and it was the most harrowing driving I’ve ever done. Literally drove within feet of the duomo and it was legal. Did a bus tour my first Italy trip, then self-planned driving trips with an Army buddy stationed in Vicenza the last two trips. Went all over Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, and Austria for weeks. Bus tour vs self-directed: they both have their merits. But everyone who can should drive in Italy once - it’s hilarious!
Just off the square in Florence is Vivoli il Gelato. The oldest shop in Florence dating back to 1929. We ate there a few years ago it was delicious. Their only other location is the one in Disney Springs. I had the Chocolate Mousse Gelato but I haven't seen that flavor at the Florida Location.
Santa Croce in that piazza you were in for food, is amazing to go into.
Can’t wait to see your adventures in Venice. Also how was it with the luggage between destinations?
Share your lasagna recipe or preferably…do a video of you making it!
