Lancia: 11 times world rally champion (6 times in a row). Now, disappeared. Thanks a lot Fiat Group!
We're in 2019 and this still looks hot as hell and better than most hot hatches.
The wet dream of my teenage nights. I saw one in Vienna recently complete with Martini Racing paint job. I almost cried.
I had the 16 valve (197 HP) version when I was a teenager. Bought for cheap, fixed some things here and there and drove it for 5 years. The driving experience in that thing was amazing. Got pulled over and cops always asked why am I smiling. I always said that the car made me smile.
4:19 Veglia-Borletti was an italian factory. with the brand Veglia it produced measurement tools in particular odometers and speedometers. The "vegliaflash" was the name of their digital stopwatch
The RPM gauge turns the normal way... 0 is just at an odd location
This deserves a 9.5 out of 10 for styling. Few car makers make a hatch this fast & fun look so effortlessly sexy.
I used to think that TT meant TwinTurbo. Since I found Doug's channel I realized it means Two T-shirts.
The “Integrale” badge is in blue & yellow because those are the colours of the city of Turin
The use of the elephant symbol was in recognition of Hannibal using Elephants to traverse the Alps - a feat replicated by Lancia rally cars in the Monte Carlo Rally, the first car to carry the badge was the Fulvia HF
I just realized that Doug reviewed this car at my old school
The tachometer doesn’t spin the opposite direction Doug, it just starts from a different spot on the circle. Makes it easier to see the revs when it’s at the top of the range, as it should be in a proper race/rally car
Don’t deny. This car was legendary in EVERY video game it was featured in. You can’t call yourself a car enthusiast if you don’t have the slightest ounce of respect for this car.
I'm 41 and this has always been my all time favourite car, and this exact version, in this exact colour. Glorious.
Imagine being a japanese guy, full of Initial D vibes in his Lancer Evo, hanging out on Akina Hill with your standard friends, and then the legend driving this war machine shows up
Doug... HF means high fidelity, but it's, since the 60s, the name of Lancia owners club. That has an Elephant as symbol and blue and yellow as colours. That's why the badge HF has an elephant and the "integrale" badge is in blue and yellow. Just take a look at the Fulvia HF. Oh, and the tach is spinning clockwise and it's upside down because in racing you need to see the top part of the rev range. Bye!!
The tachometer still goes clockwise. It just has another starting point.
As Italian living in Italy, I can only say that this was the dream of ALL young guys of my generation. I'm from 1975 and this was simply the best car out there.
