New clinic to give nonprofit space to continue investigating animal abuse cases

A nonprofit is opening a new clinic that will give the organization space to continue investigating cases of animal abuse in Las Vegas.

The executive director for the Hearts Alive Village, Christy Stevens, said the new animal clinic will be home for the nonprofit's Veterinary Forensics program.

"We investigate for Clark County, the City of Las Vegas and the City of North Las Vegas animal cruelty cases, we have a doctor that works on that, unfortunately about 80-percent of the animals that come to us are deceased and we perform a necropsy, with high resolution photos, and create a court document that is a veterinary statement, they can take that in court and used it to help prosecute people for hurting animals," Stevens said.
