Brazilian Comblain M1873 Action

This Brazilian Comblain is a falling block single shot rifle. The breech is opened by pushing down on the trigger guard which serves as the lever. The breech block, which extends down behind the trigger houses the springs for the hammer and trigger. The hammer is shrouded within the breech block.

In addition to Brazil, Chile and Belgium adopted Comblain rifles in the 1870's-80's before being replaced by small bore smokeless powder repeating rifles. It fires an 11mm black powder cartridge.
