Does coffee give you stomach issues?
Here are some things to be aware of:
1. Mycotoxins
Mycotoxins are toxic chemicals produced by molds and are extremely common in coffee beans.
Some of the side effects of these toxins are brain fog, digestive issues, fatigue and much more.
If you have a bad reaction to coffee, it could actually be mycotoxins.
2. Acidity
The acidity in coffee can be the reason why some people are sensitive to it
Try a low acid coffee or cold brew, with a splash of milk or cream
3. Pesticides
Coffee is one of the most pesticide sprayed crops in the world, and no monitoring of pesticide residue levels.
It is important to purchase high quality coffee, certified organic if possible.
4. Coffee makers/K cups
Many coffee makers are made with aluminum and plastic, both of which you should avoid. K cups are especially bad, heating plastic while brewing your coffee.
Just because they say “BPA free”, doesn’t mean other plastic toxins can’t leach into your coffee.
Things to try:
-Only have coffee after food
-Low acid, organic coffee or cold brew
-Splash of good quality milk or cream
-Glass or stainless steel coffee makers, hemp or cotton filters
-Make sure to hydrate well before & after with minerals
