भाजपा के लिए पश्चिम बंगाल पूर्वी भारत का आख़िरी क़िला है। बंगाल विजय भाजपा के लिए बहुत बड़ी चुनौती है। पिछले विधानसभा चुनाव से तुलना करें तो तृणमूल कांग्रेस की स्थिति कमज़ोर हुई है और भाजपा की स्थिति मज़बूत हुई है । पर असली सवाल है कि तृणमूल कितनी कमज़ोर हुई है और भाजपा कितनी मज़बूत । पिछली बार भाजपा यह धारणा बनाने में कामयाब रही कि वह सत्ता के बहुत क़रीब है। चुनाव नतीजों ने बताया कि ज़मीनी सचाई इसके बिल्कुल उलट थी। आगामी विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए वैसे तो सवा साल का समय है लेकिन भाजपा इस बार पिछली बार जैसी धारणा नहीं बना पाई है। सवाल है कि क्या इस बार उसकी नज़र परसेप्शन बनाने से ज़्यादा ज़मीनी वास्तविकता बदलने पर है। लोकसभा चुनाव में उसे जो झटका लगा है उससे भी उसके लिए पहले जैसा परसेप्शन बनाना आसान नहीं है। अभी तो उसे पार्टी का अंदरूनी मामला सुलझाना है। उसे एक ऐसा प्रदेश अध्यक्ष चुनना है जो ज़मीन पर सबको साथ लेकर काम कर सके। एकला चलो वाला अध्यक्ष नहीं चलने वाला है। विभिन्न प्रदेशों के अध्यक्षों के चुनाव में हो रही देरी के कारण पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष का चुनाव अटका हुआ है ।
