The arrest of Palestinian activist, Mahmoud Khalil, who helped organize campus protests of the Gaza war, has left many wondering whether foreign students and green card holders are protected from being deported. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Khalil was taken into custody as a result of President Donald Trump’s executive orders prohibiting antisemitism for the planning of Gaza war protests at Columbia University last spring. President Trump has said protesters forfeit their rights to remain in the US by supporting the Hamas terror organization or any terror group.
